About the role:

As Sheet Society enters an exciting new chapter of retail expansion, we’re looking for a creative and commercially minded full-time Visual Merchandising Manager to define and elevate our in-store visual experience. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping how customers connect with our brand in a physical space, ensuring our stores not only look dreamy but also drive engagement and performance.

Working closely with our Retail, Marketing, Product & Operations teams, you’ll lead the visual merchandising strategy across all retail locations—bringing our brand to life through compelling displays, innovative storytelling, and thoughtful spatial planning. From co-designing and launching new store openings to refreshing existing spaces, you’ll own the VM vision end to end, setting the standards and best practices that scale with us as we grow.

We’re after someone who thrives on creativity and consistency in equal measure—someone who can roll up their sleeves to style a display, but also zoom out to build scalable guidelines, challenge current processes and ideate stores of the future. About the team:

Part of the Retail & Customer Experience Team, the VM Manager reports directly to the Retail & Customer Experience Manager. Whilst the VM Manager will not have formal direct reports, they will collaborate closely with the Retail Team to execute campaign changes in store, optimise commercial opportunities and uphold visual merchandising standards.

Key Responsibilities:Visual Merchandising

  • Champion the visual merchandise direction of Sheet Society.
  • Ensure retail teams deliver a consistent and impactful brand experience through detailed guidelines, clear and consistent communication & mentoring.
  • Develop monthly floor plans and merchandising CADS, in line with new products, campaign and trend direction, bestsellers and store sales information.
  • Drive commerciality through strategic floor planning, shelf layout and product placement that enables customer engagement.
  • Be the spokesperson for VM performance within the Trade forum, fostering a test and learn approach to challenging the status quo.
  • Contribute strategically to floor planning for nuanced store profiles (eg: small or large format) working towards a well balanced stock holding profile (in and outs) that balances both creative & commercial needs.
  • Provide education, training, collateral and a consistent stream of communication to enable retail teams to deliver a consistent high-standard brand experience for the customer.

Signage, props & fixtures

  • Ownership of the brand's signage strategy in store - both brand/visual signage as well as navigational/product/price signage to deliver on a balance between commerciality & customer experience.
  • Ownership of retail fixture systems and design, partnering with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure key trading areas are functional, adaptable, and aligned with brand experience.
  • Work closely with the Lead Stylist, to develop VM Plans, briefing BAU signage requirements or styling support, and managing the production, installation and maintenance for campaign elements within budget.

Store Concept

  • Work closely with the Retail and Customer Experience Manager and design & build partners to successfully deliver on the merchandise & customer experience strategy of new and existing stores.
  • Provide meaningful strategic direction, feedback and optimisations to improve both trade & customer experience to help shape the evolution of future stores.
  • Consistently contribute creatively with feedback, learnings & new ideas to ensure the store environment evolves, improves and reflects our evolving brand.

About you:

  • 4+ years experience in a similar Visual Merchandising role.
  • You have relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent in VM or design.
  • Proven track record optimising sales and making commercial decisions to drive sales.
  • An eye for design, styling and experience in bedding/home categories is highly desirable.
  • Open to change and able to adapt at pace to sales performance, customer feedback, industry trends and evolving business needs.
  • Experience coaching and training a geographically dispersed team.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders both locally and interstate.
  • Experience in print production, fixture development and adhering to budgets.
  • Exceptional administration skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisation, planning and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
  • Experience using Slack, Asana, Shopify, Google Suite, and InDesign or Figma highly advantageous.
  • Flexibility to travel interstate as needed.
