Job description

Develop and document requirements to design a calibration system. Design and manage key strategic interfaces within Vehicle Calibration and Engine Controls. Coordinate requirements development with other activities. Provide support to engineers for root cause analysis. Strong ability to efficiently capture and analyze empirical data. Design tests to identify opportunities for design improvements. Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices. Identify and document calibration vulnerabilities and create mitigation action plans; track corrective actions.

Hybrid Position: This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring reporting to Markham Elevation Centre (MEC) or Oshawa Elevation Centre (OEC) at least three times per week.

Role Overview: We seek a Virtual Calibration Specialist– Propulsion Thermal. Engage in the integration and simulation of full-vehicle thermal systems using advanced modeling tools. Transition to virtual engineering environments for efficient design, validation, and calibration across ICE, xEV, and BEV platforms. Work involves in-vehicle, lab, and virtual environments, collaborating with teams across VDDV, Vehicle Performance, Validation, SMT’s, and VMEC. Travel up to 10% per year, mainly in the US (Michigan, Colorado, California, Arizona).

Core Responsibilities:

• Adopt full-vehicle co-simulation integration using tools like GT-Suite, MATLAB/Simulink, AMESIM, CarSim, and CarMaker.
• Develop and calibrate simulation packages for propulsion thermal systems, providing feedback on model/environment quality.
• Conduct calibration work using virtual simulations, collaborating with calibration specialists to develop strategies, procedures, and validation results.
• Support continuous improvement of simulation fidelity and calibration efficiency.
• Participate in product design and development, presenting analysis results to peers and management.

Required Skills & Experience:

• BSc in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of bevHEAT Thermal System.
• 2+ years of SW Calibration experience.
• Experience with physics, behavioral, or hardware modeling is an asset.
• Familiarity with system tools or controls integration CAE tools such as GT-Power, AMESIM, CarSim, CarMaker, MATLAB/SIMULINK, ETAS ASCMO.
• Familiarity with SDM systems like Teamcenter and RTC, and VCS tools like Git, SVN, TFS.
• Strong multi-functional communication and leadership skills.
• High comfort with ambiguity and developing new capabilities.
