Reports To: Associate Director, Marketing

Reason for vacancy: Existing position

Expected hiring salary range: $50,000 up to $60,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined through an internal review process.

Primary Purpose

The Videographer/Photographer will create high-quality visual content to showcase the university’s academic programs, student life, events, and accomplishments. This role involves conceptualizing, capturing, and editing photos and videos for use across digital, print, and social media platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong creative vision and the technical expertise to produce content that reflects the university's mission and brand identity.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Videography: Plan, shoot, and edit videos for a variety of purposes, including marketing, admissions, social media, and event documentation.
  • Photography: Capture professional-quality images of university events, campus scenes, student activities, faculty profiles, and promotional campaigns.
  • Editing: Retouch and edit photos and videos to meet creative and technical standards, ensuring consistency with the university’s brand guidelines.
  • Concept Development: Collaborate with marketing teams and university departments to develop creative concepts and storyboards for visual projects.
  • Event Coverage: Provide on-site photography and videography coverage for key university events, such as graduations, orientations, lectures, sports games, and fundraisers.
  • Content Management: Organize and maintain a digital library of visual assets for easy access and future use.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all photography and videography equipment is in excellent working condition and recommend updates or replacements as needed.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual content aligns with the university’s branding and messaging strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with students, faculty, and staff to ensure their stories are authentically and compellingly represented.
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance or workshops to students interested in photography and videography (if applicable).

Requirements

Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • College Diploma and/or Bachelor’s degree in photography, videography, media production, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 2-5 years of experience in professional photography/videography, preferably in an academic, non-profit, or corporate environment.
  • Proficiency in using professional cameras, lighting, and audio equipment.
  • Strong competency in photo and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing photography and videography work, including event coverage, creative projects, and YouTube content.
  • Understanding of YouTube analytics, video SEO, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Excellent visual storytelling skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of social media trends and best practices for visual content.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in drone photography/videography and certification (if applicable).
  • Familiarity with higher education environments.
  • Basic graphic design skills are a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position
  • Flexible schedule, with some hours required on weekends (e.g., open day, Santa parade) and weekday evenings (e.g., events, orientations, open house).
  • Ability to lift and carry photography/videography equipment.
  • Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor settings, sometimes in varying weather conditions.
