The CBC Nova Scotia team is looking to expand our roster of casual talent for the position of ENG Videographer. Shifts will be based on need and could be occasional days every few weeks, or more consistent for vacation coverage and backfilling sick leave.

Your role

We are looking for a candidate who has the following qualifications:

  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to a post-secondary education and 3 years of relevant experience in TV and media arts.

  • Ability to operate an Electronic News Gathering (ENG) camera and associated technology such as wireless microphones, lighting equipment, and communication tools.
  • Ability to edit video/audio using non-linear editing technology such as Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premiere in both an office or remote setting.
  • Ability and willingness to handle technical operation (camera/audio/troubleshooting) for remote locations on daily TV newscasts.
  • Strong skills in both picture composition when using the camera as well as content presentation during the editing process.
  • A strong team player with experience and/or willingness to work with new reporters to help them develop their on-camera skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to remote locations.
  • Ability to ask scripted questions of people being recorded or interviewed.
  • Must demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to pursue the acquisition of story elements with minimum supervision ensuring a high degree of accuracy, quality and creativity.
  • Experience with LIVE television and daily news is an asset. Must possess a valid driver's license as well as a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada's insurance company.
  • Experience with double-ender kits, voice recording devices and iPhones is an asset.
  • Experience with camera work in a studio or multi-camera live environment is an asset.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
