Job summary

Corus Entertainment in Canada is seeking a Videographer for Global Durham. Generate, chase, write, shoot, produce and edit original news stories for Global Durham and globalnews.ca, meeting tight daily deadlines.

Post updates online as stories develop and use production graphics to enhance storytelling. Build a reliable network of Durham region news contacts and contribute to engaging, timely coverage across platforms.

Qualifications

  • Previous broadcast and online journalism experience.
  • Post-secondary education in Broadcast Journalism or related field.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
  • Camera experience and familiarity with non-linear editing.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing technology and workflows.
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines and breaking news.

Responsibilities

About the Role:
  • Generating, and pitching original story ideas.
  • Chasing, writing, shooting, producing, and editing original news stories for Global Durham broadcast and globalnews.ca while meeting multiple daily deadlines.
  • Posting updates online as a story is being developed.
  • Creatively using production graphics and other visual elements to enhance storytelling.

Qualifications
  • Previous work experience in broadcast and online journalism.
  • Post-secondary education in Broadcast Journalism, or related field.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
  • Camera experience and familiarity with non-linear editing.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing technology and workflows.
  • The ability to effectively solve problems and troubleshooting while dealing with the unexpected.
  • Ability to handle the demands and pressure of tight deadlines and breaking news.
  • Proven ability as a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Great communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid class G driver’s license with clean driving abstract.
