Position Overview : We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our diverse team of professionals as a Vice-Principal for elementary Grades. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality education that caters to the individual needs and abilities of our students. This role requires a deep understanding of various teaching methodologies, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Academic Leadership :

  • Collaborate with the Principal to develop and implement curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices aligned with Alberta Educational Standards and school goals.
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers in designing engaging and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Monitor student academic progress and implement interventions as needed to support struggling students.
  • Lead professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness and promote continuous improvement in instructional practices.

Student Support and Discipline :

  • Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive student support system, including counseling services, behavior management strategies, and academic interventions.
  • Work closely with teachers, counselors, and parents to address student behavioral issues and promote a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Implement disciplinary procedures in accordance with school policies, ensuring fairness and consistency in disciplinary actions.

Administrative Duties :

  • Assist the Principal in day-to-day administrative tasks, including scheduling, budget management, and resource allocation.
  • Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school events to facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders.
  • Coordinate standardized testing and assessment programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student academic progress, attendance, and disciplinary incidents.

Community Engagement :

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, community members, and external stakeholders to support the school's mission and objectives.
  • Act as a liaison between the school and the broader community, representing the school at meetings, events, and outreach activities.
  • Promote a culture of family involvement and community engagement through volunteer opportunities, parent education programs, and outreach initiatives.

Qualifications :

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education.
  • Understanding of different teaching methodologies and multiple intelligences.
  • Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to teaching in a diverse environment.
