for the position of Duchess School Vice Principal

for the 2025-2026 School Year!

We are seeking applications to work alongside strong and supportive in-school administrators as the Vice Principal at Duchess School. Duchess School, located 20 km north of Brooks, a part of the Grasslands Public Schools community of rural locations. The school serves a community of 267 students from grades K-12, and is made up of both local students from the Village of Duchess, as well as, students from the surrounding County of Newell and City of Brooks areas. Duchess School strives to provide the best education possible, addressing the unique needs and characteristics for each of the 136 elementary, 64 junior high, and 67 senior high students they serve.

The ideal candidates will be exemplary teachers who have demonstrated leadership characteristics including:

  • Personal integrity;
  • excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • outstanding relationship-building and interpersonal skills;
  • a proven ability as an instructional leader with a focus on optimal learning for all students;
  • a leadership style characterized by collaborative decision-making and high visibility in the school;
  • a proven ability to work with all partners to establish clear direction and achieve goals;
  • the ability to develop and maintain a safe and caring learning environment;
  • a commitment to inclusive approaches that celebrate diversity, and an understanding of First Nations Metis & Inuit foundational knowledge;
  • completion or active enrolment in a graduate/Master’s degree program in education; and
  • an ability to meet the Leadership Quality Standard.
