George Gordon Education Centre is a Grade K-12 school with approximately 159 students and 13.00 FTE dedicated instructional staff. George Gordon Education Centre is located in a supportive community with an active student body and enjoys a solid academic and extra-curricular program.

The Opportunity: George Gordon Education Centre requires a Continuing Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Vice Principal to commence for the 2025-2026 school year.

Reporting to the Principal, the Vice-Principal of George Gordon Education Centre is responsible for supporting the Principal in leading the day-to-day operations of the school; ensuring that all students are instructed, assessed and supported in a safe and welcoming learning environment. You will work collaboratively with all school staff in the development of the school’s Learning Improvement Plan that is aligned with advancing the School Division’s three pillars of Literacy, Safe & Caring, and Assessment. Under the direction of the Principal, you will support the creation and implementation of school policies, regulations, and procedures for financial and procedural administration, scheduling, extracurricular activities, emergency operations, facilities management, and overall management. You will also serve as a role model and assist staff and community in creating a top-quality educational experience for all students. The Principal will assign other duties as required.

  • Foster staff and student leadership and morale
  • Promote stewardship through resource allocation and management based on priorities
  • Build capacity and effectively supervise teaching and non-teaching staff
  • Promote and support community and parental engagement

Qualifications

  • Valid teaching certificate
  • Bachelor of Education, Master's Degree preferred
  • Five (5) years of teaching experience

You care about top quality instruction, assessment, and intervention to meet the needs of all students. You are detail-oriented, yet you can also see the big picture and how multiple elements of school life fit together. You work effectively in a school team as well as independently as the school leader. Your positive attitude is infectious, and you both recognize your own strengths and have the ability to help others see and leverage theirs.
