Purpose

Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for the end-to-end enterprise reporting function for all business lines globally ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Also, architecting a unified, best-in-class reporting framework that connects statutory, management, and profitability views into a single source of strategic truth.

This role shapes the integrity, relevance, and influence of business line financials across Canadian Banking, Global Banking and Markets, International Banking, Global Wealth Management, and Other. The VP Business Lina Financial reporting leads a high-performing team, delivering timely, accurate and actionable financial information and insights across the business lines. This role demands deep accounting and product knowledge, exceptional judgment, and strong leadership presence with executive stakeholders.

Accountabilities

    • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
    • Enterprise Reporting Leadership - Architect and own the global business line financial reporting framework - ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment across statutory, management, and profitability lenses. Collaborate closely with the Chief Accountant team to support the global application of accounting policies and ensure Executive Office (EO) and business line reporting aligns with consolidated financial statement requirements and IFRS.
    • Insights & Analytics - Prepare key internal and external packages, including Business Line executive reporting, CFO Binder, Board updates. Ensure content is analytically rigorous, strategically relevant, and clearly communicated through embedding robust commentary, validation frameworks, and analytics to elevate reporting from output to insight.
    • Business Line Allocation & Tax Transfer Pricing Governance - Own enterprise-wide cost allocation models and intercompany frameworks, including tax-related transfer pricing processes. Ensure defensible pricing, regulatory compliance, and transparency across shared services, delivery centers, and legal entities in collaboration with Global Taxation and Global Finance stakeholders.
    • Risk, Controls & Compliance Leadership - Safeguard reporting integrity through rigorous first-line controls, SOX-compliant processes, and deep accountability for IFRS, US GAAP (where applicable), and regulatory requirements.
    • Finance Transformation & Simplification - Champion modernization across the reporting lifecycle from process automation to data governance in partnership with FP&A, Data Office, and Technology teams.
    • Industry Engagement & External Influence - Represent Scotiabank in financial reporting working groups, manage relationships with regulators, auditors, and tax authorities, and stay ahead of evolving external standards.
    • People & Talent Development - Build, lead, and inspire a diverse team of finance professionals. Drive performance, succession, and inclusion through.
    • Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
    • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Education / Experience / Other Information

    • CPA or equivalent accounting designation (required)
    • MBA or master s in finance/accounting (preferred)
    • Experience engaging with regulators, auditors, and global finance counterparts
    • 10+ years of experience in business line financial reporting, controllership, or CFO advisory within global banks or Big 4 firms.
    • Deep accounting fluency (IFRS, US GAAP), with hands-on experience leading complex reporting cycles and supporting executive-level decision-making.
    • Expert knowledge of financial products across retail, capital markets, wealth, and corporate banking - and how they translate into financial statements. Recognized in the local market as an expert with ability to influence change.
    • Proven track record of leading transformation in reporting processes, cost allocation models, or financial systems.
    • Strategic Storytelling Able to distill complex financials into compelling executive narratives.
    • Strategy Alignment - Sets organization priorities/framework and strategy for teams (medium term; 1-3 years) by translating the all-bank vision for Global Finance.
    • Direction Setting - Contributes to the long-term direction and operating priorities within Global Finance.
    • Leads through leaders - Sets execution strategy and enables achievement of end-to-end results.
    • Control-Minded - Deep understanding of risk, audit, SOX, and financial data governance.
    • Digitally Fluent - Strong working knowledge of ERP, planning, and reporting platforms (Oracle, Power BI).
    • Collaborative & Cross-Functional - Works seamlessly across Controllers, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Business Units.
    • Judgment Under Pressure - Makes sound, timely decisions in fast-moving, high-stakes environments.
    • Change Advocate - Pushes simplification, standardization, and future-fit ways of working.
Working Conditions

Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel domestically/internationally.
