The Vice President, Renewables, Operations is an operations leader responsible for managing the post-construction relationship between GFL landfill operations, GFL Renewables in its role as JV partner, and GFL Renewables JV partners for the renewable energy operations within our GFL Renewables portfolio in Canada and the U.S. The role also involves overseeing operations of renewable energy facilities that are owned solely by GFL.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Work with the renewables project delivery team to proactively identify design or construction decisions impacting operations and plan accordingly.
  • Support innovation and efficiency in landfill gas management and RNG plant operations to maximize gas recovery, aligning with business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with operators to recommend improvements, oversee implementation, and report on performance.
  • Build and review budgets for renewable energy facilities, including those owned solely by GFL and those developed with JV partners.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure operational, financial, and environmental success.
  • Protect GFL’s interests in compliance, reputation, and operations.
  • Drive results through collaboration and influence across landfill and renewable energy operations.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in gas management, compliance, finance, sustainability, and development.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies :
  • Strong business acumen, experience in managing outcomes to drive revenue and efficiency.
  • Deep knowledge of landfill gas management and applicable regulations.
  • Understanding of large-scale capital project management at landfills.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and project planning skills.
  • Requirements :
