Vice President, Portfolio and Fund Analytics, Private Capital - Toronto

The Opportunity:

Our client is a successful private capital fund, an integral part of a larger multi-strategy alternative investment firm. As a result of a growing platform of investments we are looking to add a VP of Portfolio Analytics.

The individual will support the invest team and will be actively involved in all aspects of investment monitoring and fund analytics. They will also work closely with the capital markets and investor relations teams. This position provides a unique and exciting opportunity to be part of the biopharmaceutical industry and to contribute to the success of a fast-growing alternative asset manager. They are a dynamic and entrepreneurial team focused on building a business for the long run.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support the investment team as it reviews new investments and help monitor existing investments;
  • Drive portfolio analytics and assist in capital markets activities
  • Develop and maintain sales forecasts and valuation models for products and companies of interest;
  • Help build complex fund financial models including existing portfolios and future fundraises and deployment;
  • Support fundraising efforts and LP relationships including diligence requests;
  • Be a liaison and thought leader between the investment team and Sagard’s finance and valuation teams; and
  • Contribute to a flexible, team-oriented culture characterized by active, constructive debate.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Candidate has completed an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, or other related fields;
  • Designations including MBA, CFA and/or CPA preferred
  • Minimum 4-6 years of relevant work experience in asset management, corporate finance, corporate strategy or portfolio analytics.
  • An interest in general investing and understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry would be an added benefit;
  • Quantitative, with strong data analysis, financial modeling and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks while producing high-quality deliverables under demanding timelines. Must have the capacity to adapt to change, be versatile and flexible;
  • Based in Toronto, and able to adapt to a hybrid working model;
  • Works effectively both in teams and independently; and,
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
