Boardwalk is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Leader to serve as Vice President, People & Culture. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape and strengthen Boardwalk’s commitment to its people and create an inclusive, high performing workplace that supports service, hospitality and operational excellence.

This role will be responsible for leading the People & Culture strategy, ensuring that policies, programs, and initiatives support the organization’s goals. This role will foster a people-first culture, emphasizing Associate engagement, retention, professional development, and workplace well-being.

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President, People & Culture will provide strategic leadership to the People & Culture department, which includes Human Resources, Health & Safety, Payroll & Benefits. They will provide strategic advice, guidance, and support in partnership with Leaders in the areas of human resources, labour relations, and performance management.

Key Areas Of Responsibility Include

  1. Cultural Leadership: Champion the organization’s culture to reflect its values and mission by fostering an inclusive work environment.
  2. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement People strategies that align with Boardwalk’s values and goals, emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and positioning Boardwalk as a top employer.
  3. Employee Engagement and Inclusion: Foster a supportive, engaging, and inclusive workplace environment that attracts, retains, and develops top talent. Measure Associate satisfaction through feedback & survey.
  4. Leadership Development: Develop strong leadership team through evolving measures of performance.
  5. Training and Development: Oversee learning and development programs that enhance Associate skills, career growth, and development.
  6. Data and Analytics: Review metrics and analytics to measure the effectiveness of programs and make data-driven recommendations to improve processes.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  1. A degree in Human Resources or a related field; CPHR designation is preferred.
  2. Designations in Health & Safety, Payroll & Benefits an asset.
  3. Significant leadership experience, 10+ years, in HR, with the ability to face challenges and to exercise integrity, flexibility, and wisdom while maintaining transparency.
  4. Expertise in workforce planning, talent acquisition, learning & development, leadership development, health & safety and Associate engagement.
  5. Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
  6. Experience leading change initiatives and fostering a culture of service.
  7. Strong knowledge of HRIS (such as Dayforce) and data management.
  8. A strong track record of building and maintaining a positive, successful, high performing culture.
  9. A trustworthy Leader capable of working effectively within a high performing environment and building trusting relationships.
  10. Emotional intelligence and empathy, ensuring a supportive and inclusive work environment.
  11. A passion for people.
