Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Vice President, Operations will have full responsibility for the manufacturing operations of Sofina Foods. Working closely with supply chain, engineering, human resources, quality, and food safety, the VP, Operations will contribute to Sofina realizing its operational goals.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead manufacturing to achieve best-in-class operational excellence;
• Communicate the plant and operations vision, translate it into practicable, tactical actions, and effectively deploy the operations team against those activities;
• Build a high-performing manufacturing organization; attract, develop, and retain top talent;
• Introduce greater visibility to results, including KPIs and manufacturing analytics, to measure performance and redirect resources as needed;
• Partner with strategic suppliers to foster collaborative relationships that enhance innovation and competitive advantage;
• Contribute to the innovation process, utilizing analytics for product lifecycle management and new product launches;
• Foster a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with OHS and environmental standards, and implement corrective measures for non-compliance;
• Promote best-in-class preventative maintenance programs focusing on reliability and capital reinvestment;
• Build strong internal partnerships, demonstrating leadership and functional excellence;
• Support company values and foster a positive culture;
• Manage effectively in a complex Union-Management environment, promoting positive labor relations.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering or related field;
• Minimum 7 years of diverse plant operations experience, including previous plant leadership;
• Experience in the food manufacturing industry is preferred;
• Proven people management and team development skills;
• TPM experience (AM / PM / FI) is desirable;
• Experience managing grievances and contract negotiations in a unionized environment is essential;
• Prior experience as a Plant Manager or similar role is critical;
• Experience with Continuous Improvement principles and programs;
• Excellent communication skills, including engagement with DEI initiatives;
• Strategic thinker with the ability to execute and deliver results;
• Strong business acumen and practical application of business strategies;
• Leadership mindset capable of driving change and business results.
