Vice President of Operations (Logistics)

We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Vice President of Operations to spearhead our comprehensive logistics, transportation, and supply chain strategies. As a critical member of our executive leadership team, you will oversee day-to-day operations to maximize efficiency, scale our network, and drive bottom-line profitability. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of optimizing complex freight, warehousing, and distribution networks while fostering a culture of high performance and strict safety compliance.

Executive Leadership & Strategy
  • Direct strategic planning: Formulate and execute long-term operational blueprints aligned with corporate financial goals.
  • Manage P&L: Own the operational budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities and driving continuous ROI improvements.
  • Lead organizational change: Align cross-functional department heads to ensure seamless communication and unified corporate direction.
Supply Chain & Logistics Optimization
  • Streamline asset utilization: Optimize freight programs, drayage, intermodal, and multi-modal fleet networks.
  • Enhance facility throughput: Oversee fulfillment, distribution center, and warehouse workflows to scale order processing and inventory control.
  • Advance technology integration: Evaluate and implement TMS, WMS, and ERP infrastructure to maximize tracking and data analytics.
  • Negotiate high-value contracts: Secure optimal terms with carriers, third-party logistics (3PL) providers, and international vendors.
  • Cultivate partner networks: Build and maintain deep working relationships with port authorities, terminals, and key industry stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required: Preferred focus in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Operations. Master’s degree / MBA is highly desirable.
  • 10+ years of leadership: Extensive, progressive experience managing large-scale logistics operations and cross-functional teams.
  • Industry expertise: Deep understanding of freight mechanics, global supply networks, and port-related transportation.
Core Competencies
  • Lean execution: Proven mastery of continuous improvement methodologies like Six Sigma or Lean Logistics.
  • Analytical acumen: Ability to translate complex data sets into highly actionable operational KPIs.
  • Regulatory compliance: Expert knowledge of DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and international customs regulations.
Must-Haves
  • Strong desire to perform, step outside their comfort zone, and take ownership.
  • Willingness to roll up their sleeves and work in the warehouse when needed.
  • Comfortable making difficult calls and having challenging conversations with the team.
