Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vice President of Programs and Academics to lead our organization. This pivotal role involves overseeing both our innovative tech-based charter schools for grades 6-12 and our impactful workforce development training programs for individuals aged 16-24. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a strong background in education, workforce development, and operational excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans for all academic and program initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and goals.
Program Oversight: Provide comprehensive oversight for both the charter school network and workforce development programs, including curriculum development, program delivery, and outcomes measurement.
Academic Excellence: Drive academic achievement and innovation within the charter schools, ensuring a rigorous and engaging learning environment focused on technology.
Workforce Development: Enhance and expand workforce development offerings to meet the evolving needs of the youth and the job market, fostering skills relevant to technology and other growing industries.
Operational Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of programs and academics, including budgeting, resource allocation, and policy implementation.
Team Building & Development: Recruit, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of educators and program staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, community partners, and funding organizations.
Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with all relevant educational and workforce development regulations, and prepare comprehensive reports on program performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master’s degree or higher in Education, Business Administration, Public Policy, or a related field.

Experience:
5+ years of relevant experience
Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within a workforce development organization and charter school environment.
Significant experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating workforce development programs.
Significant experience designing and implementing charter school programs for middle and high school with a focus on workforce development and technology.
Proven track record of successful leadership, independent decision-making, and team building.
Strong operational management experience.

ACADEMICS SCOPE

Manage and oversee the development and implementation of all curricula for tech based workforce development training, K-12 academics, and academics designed for partnering organizations.
Leads all professional development for faculty and staff, providing support and continuous innovation and improvements in alignment with high academic and industry standards.
Provide leadership to the academic team, workforce instructors, K-12 teachers, and other staff responsible for the delivery of programming and academic excellence.
Manage and oversee student progress, data collection related to student performance, school performance, and develop strategies to refine student achievement and faculty performance.
Ensure and maintain the organization’s compliance with local, state, and federal laws and charter requirements.
Works with CEO and other relevant stakeholders, faculty, and staff to ensure performance measures are met and often exceeded consistently.
Contribute to a positive, experiential, professional culture that sets an example for students to maintain excellence both inside and outside of the classroom and school premises.
Manage and oversee all strategic planning to guarantee that goals, mission of organization and its academic programming are in alignment with the long term vision.
Act as a public representative and liaison for the organization on matters related to the delivery and performance of academics and programming.
Build strong and long term relationships with stakeholders and supporters of the organization’s mission, vision, and values and nurture those relationships for the benefit of the young people that the organization serves.
Other responsibilities as needed and related to academics and programming that support the growth and scale of the organization and its long term vision.

PROGRAM SCOPE

Assist CEO with coordination and management of the GEOINT/GIS Technician, CISCO Network Technician, CyberSecurity Specialist, and Robotics Technician local, state, and national virtual and in-person training programs
Oversee daily program operations and act as supervising intermediary between instructors, community organizations, government agencies, program staff, schools, and CEO
Identifies resources for programs, structures plan for the organization to offer programs and works with Director of Curriculum & Instruction on implementation
Manage coordination of training between schools (or districts), colleges, employers, program staff, and instructors
Oversee case management process and evaluation(s) of student trainees
Oversee scheduling of instructors for virtual and in-person training sessions
Oversees the Program staff management of cohort records
Oversees the Program staff distribution to instructors of updated cohort rosters at beginning of each training session (Fall, Spring, Summer)
Oversee the registration and launch of new unique software users (students) and update at the beginning of each session completed by the Program staff
Assists CEO with presentations, events, and speaking engagements as requested
Provides guidance where needed on marketing outreach by Program staff
Provides guidance to Program staff on customer records and portfolios to ensure accurate record-keeping of cohorts, locations, credentials awarded, and scheduling
Ensures that all Program information and marketing collateral created by Program staff or consultants is maintained and updated regularly with accurate and relevant information for instructors, students, and partner POCs
Manages reporting and organization of government Partnership Intermediary Agreements (PIA) with local, state or federal partners and attends all PIA meetings
Manages mentor portfolio and provides guidance to Program staff on matching mentors with students (with special requirements for minors)
Assists CEO with keeping all organizational programming accounts and licenses up to date and in compliance and responds to renewals and issues promptly
Oversees the management and updating of all programming standards and maintains high organizational standards with regard to program delivery and alignment with industry standards
Assists CEO with management and organization of program and project funding opportunities including grants, fundraisers, and capital campaigns
Oversees and manages daily operational tasks and goals related to programming and facilities of staff including directors, managers, coordinators, and other support staff
Provides leadership and guidance to staff

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands are representative of the requirements necessary for an employee to perform the essential functions of this position. The employee is required to actively listen and communicate clearly with an emphasis on self management and management of others. The employee is required to publicly speak. The employee is required to reach with arms and hands, balance, lean, and move from one location to another. Vision abilities required by this job include close and far. Ability to operate a computer keyboard and mouse, and lift and transport files and reports is required. Employees must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 20 pounds.
