Vice President of Product & Engineering

iTacit is a fast-growing SaaS company with a strong market foothold, scaling rapidly to meet increasing customer demand. As they enter their next stage of growth, they’re seeking a seasoned VP of Product & Engineering to lead the product vision and drive world-class engineering execution. This is a pivotal leadership role that ensures their roadmap, technology, and user experience stay tightly aligned with business outcomes.

The VP of Product & Engineering will lead product management, engineering, and technical operations functions. You will own the end-to-end delivery process — from product ideation and prioritization through development, launch, and iteration. Reporting to the President/COO, you’ll be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for building high-performing teams, delivering against business goals, and scaling our platform to meet growing demand.

This role can be remote or local from your Fredericton, NB headquarters. HQ onboarding training time will be required.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Define and lead the company’s product and engineering strategy in alignment with business objectives.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive team, contributing to company-level planning, growth initiatives, and KPIs.
  • Build and lead a high-performing cross-functional team across product, engineering, and DevOps.

Engineering Execution

  • Oversee technical architecture, infrastructure, security, and platform scalability.
  • Drive engineering excellence, including code quality, technical debt management, and release reliability.
  • Champion agile development practices, continuous delivery, and operational efficiency.

Product Ownership

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to the Product Owner, ensuring alignment on the product vision, roadmap, and feature prioritization process.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Translate strategic goals into product initiatives that drive value and differentiation.

Team Development

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability across both product and engineering.
  • Mentor and grow product managers, engineers, and technical leaders.
  • Build scalable processes for hiring, onboarding, and performance management.

Product Cloud Operations

  • Ensure product and engineering practices align with cloud infrastructure goals, including 4-9’s uptime.
  • Ensure scalability of the platform relative to sales growth targets.
  • Ensure engineering and product practices align with platform security standards and SOC 2 compliance objectives.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Support to ensure product/market fit and smooth feature rollouts.
  • Act as a bridge between business and technical teams to ensure alignment and transparency.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in product and/or engineering leadership roles in a SaaS or software company.
  • Proven ability to scale both product and engineering organizations.
  • Strong technical fluency is essential — this role requires the ability to dissect complex systems, assess technical risk, and guide teams through high-stakes technical decisions.
  • Strong product intuition and experience driving product strategy and execution.
  • Deep understanding of modern software development, cloud architecture, and DevOps practices.
  • Track record of delivering complex products with high quality and strong customer outcomes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Experience working directly with executive teams and contributing to company-wide strategy.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in B2B SaaS, especially in high-compliance industries.
  • Background in both technical (e.g., engineering, architecture) and product disciplines.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Experience managing compliance and security in regulated environments (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR).
