VP of Operations Description
Aurea Technologies Inc. has an open position for a VP of Operations to join its team in Burnside Business Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Through continuously innovating, Aurea has developed the most powerful, portable, and user-friendly small-scale wind turbine to charge off-grid devices. The company consists of a diverse team of outdoor enthusiasts and renewable energy innovators. As a new member of this team, the successful candidate can look forward to:
- Supporting the day-to-day operations and administrative tasks
- Assisting with recruitment and hiring of new employees
- Overseeing the accounting and financial reporting of the business
- Overseeing the company’s product quality control and order fulfillment
- Supporting Board of Director meetings by preparing financial statements and forecasts
- Taking part in R&D and engineering meetings to contribute to the development of new products
- Developing operational procedure documentation and implementation of strategic objectives
- Working with suppliers and manufacturers to meet cost targets and logistics requirements
- Working with executive team regularly to ensure milestones and targets are consistently being met
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution, have their P. Eng. designation and be eligible for registration with Engineers NS, as well as a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience in:
- Project management to ensure that company productivity objectives, milestones, and timelines are met
- Assessing and implementing improved processes and new technologies
- R&D and engineering to bring a strong technical foundation that hardware products require
- Building and maintaining relationships with other professionals and organizations
- Managing accounting, cash flows, and forecasting with a strong focus on reducing burn rate and increasing profit margins
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with engineering, production, and accounting/financial planning. This is a hybrid position, and applicants must be located within the Halifax area.
Additionally, you should:
- Be able to motivate, organize, and support a team with varied expertise
- Have exceptional business and budget-planning skills
- Have strong organizational and time management skills
- Be able to adapt to changing environment and solve problems as they arise
- Have strong verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Be efficient in Microsoft Office Suite as well as have excellent analytical skills
