As Fares & Co. continue to grow, we are partnering with them looking to bring a Vice President of Finance to their team of dedicated professionals.

The Vice President (VP) of Finance will play a key leadership role in shaping the financial strategy and operations of the company. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the finance department, ensuring financial health and contributing to the overall strategic direction of the business. The VP will be instrumental in managing the financial complexities of large-scale real estate development projects, ensuring that the company's financial practices align with its growth objectives.

Responsibilities will include :

  • Collaborate with the executive team to define the company’s financial strategy and objectives.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to business leaders including COO and ownership to support business decision-making.
  • Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning processes to ensure the company’s profitability and financial sustainability.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards (ASPE), and tax requirements in Canada.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and funding requirements for ongoing and future real estate projects.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and control systems.
  • Lead the structuring and execution of project financing, including securing debt and equity funding for real estate developments.
  • Manage relationships with banks, investors, and other financial institutions to ensure access to capital.
  • Develop financial models for large-scale development projects, evaluating returns on investment and risk analysis.
  • Oversee the acquisition, development, and management of real estate assets, ensuring optimal capital allocation.
  • Identify and manage financial risks related to development projects, including market, operational, and financing risks.
  • Ensure the company complies with all legal, tax, and regulatory requirements related to real estate development and corporate governance.
  • Oversee internal controls and implement best practices to safeguard the company’s financial integrity.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to other departments, including development, operations, and legal, on financial matters.
  • Lead the financial due diligence and integration of potential acquisitions or partnerships within the real estate sector.

The ideal candidate will possess :

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field (required).
  • 10+ years of senior financial leadership experience in the real estate development industry or a related field.
  • Proven track record in project financing, financial modeling, and managing multi-million-dollar budgets for real estate projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian real estate laws, taxation, and financial regulations.
  • Experience in managing investor relations and presenting financial performance to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Expertise in financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and adapt to changing market conditions.
  • In-depth understanding of real estate development finance, including debt and equity financing, project structures, and market trends.
