Purpose

The Vice President, Mortgage Operations & Technology provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Mortgage Operations & Technology department in Canada. This role ensures that business strategies, plans, and initiatives comply with regulations and internal policies, while supporting business growth and operational excellence.

The scope includes overseeing the Home Financing Solutions and eHOME Underwriting Teams, Prefund (All Channels), Non-Branch Funding Teams, Operational Excellence, and all Mortgage Technology systems.

Accountabilities

  1. Ensure operational teams meet KPIs related to quality, turnaround times, client experience, compliance, and productivity; manage capacity planning.
  2. Lead operational efficiency and service effectiveness, identifying opportunities for process digitization and improvement.
  3. Promote a client-focused culture, leveraging broader bank relationships and systems.
  4. Drive the RESL digital roadmap; lead technology projects using agile methodology; collaborate with IT&S for system stability and changes.
  5. Manage day-to-day activities aligned with the bank’s risk culture and communicate risk policies.
  6. Design and implement initiatives to increase mortgage scale, acquire new clients, maximize cross-selling, and ensure excellent client experience.
  7. Establish reporting mechanisms to monitor progress, including dashboards and KPIs.
  8. Create an environment promoting effective operations and adherence to controls related to operational, regulatory, AML/ATF, and conduct risks.
  9. Build a high-performance team environment, attracting, developing, and motivating staff while fostering inclusivity and managing succession planning.

Education / Experience / Other Requirements

  1. University degree and relevant experience.
  2. Proven leadership managing large teams.
  3. Expertise in mortgage sales, distribution channels, funding, prefund, and underwriting platforms.
  4. Strong knowledge of mortgage technology systems and agile project delivery.
  5. Experience in operational excellence, capacity planning, and process improvement.
  6. Excellent project management, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
  7. Strategic planning and change management capabilities.

Working Conditions

  • Standard office environment; occasional non-standard hours and domestic travel.
