Job description

What is the opportunity? As Vice President, Mid-Market Leverage Finance ("MMLF"), you will play a key role in achieving the Corporate Client Group (CCG) objectives by structuring, delivering, and managing senior secured leveraged lending transactions, primarily to Private Equity (PE) owned/backed companies. The MMLF team aims to meet annual targets for loan revenues and returns, providing advice on optimizing lending in line with RBC relationship goals. This role emphasizes PE.

What will you do?

  1. Be part of a growing national MMLF credit underwriting team dedicated to delivering quality credit solutions to PE-backed companies.
  2. Under the guidance of MD/Director MMLF, structure, deliver (from pitch to deal close), monitor, and manage syndicated and bilateral loan transactions.
  3. Conduct research, analysis, and data collection (market, industry, clients) to support CCG guidance on optimal loan structures and provide risk/return analysis for transactions.
  4. Support the development and maintenance of a business pipeline, aiming to win new business and close sufficient loan transactions to meet revenue targets.
  5. Assist in managing and monitoring the MMLF loan portfolio, including reporting on risk shifts, client needs, and structure, and recommend actions and new marketing opportunities.
  6. Participate fully in credit submissions and related analysis.
  7. Lead and support the creation of professional pitch books and presentations for clients.
  8. Engage with RBC partners across various functions including Relationship Managers, Treasury, Credit Management, and others.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business or Economics.
  • Experience in corporate lending, Mid-Market Leverage Finance, or risk management.
  • Ability to interpret loan agreements and legal documents with high attention to detail.
  • Strong financial modeling and scenario analysis skills.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, written, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of senior debt credit products.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Strong relationship skills and teamwork ability.
  • Bilingual in English and French for Quebec candidates.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with RBC internal processes.
  • Professional designations like CPA, CFA.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience in private equity lending.
