The VP, Marketing will be responsible for leading, developing and executing brand marketing strategies and activations. Specifically, working with internal departments, external agencies and partners, spearheading all the advertising and promotional activities for the club.
As VP, Marketing you will drive a large multi-disciplinary team, cultivate a loyal fan base, attract a new generation of fans, and facilitate revenue growth across all business lines.You will also be an important contributor to the organization’s Executive Leadership Team.
Reporting to the President & CEO, you will work closely with our consumer data & insights, game production, content, ticketing, third party merchandiser, partnerships, and charitable foundation. You will lead a dynamic and passionate team of marketing professionals.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of executing data-driven, digital-first marketing strategies and delivering growth in consumer-facing environments. This individual will strike a balance between strategic thinking and hands-on execution, possessing a deep understanding of sports or live entertainment and a people first, fan first mentality.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic marketing plans to achieve annual sales goals.
- Collaborate with the sales team to create campaigns focused on both growing the new Season Ticket Member base, retention, groups, premium, etc.
- Plan and oversee advertising and promotional campaigns which may include TV, radio, print, out-of-home and digital marketing to ultimately drive sales and increase brand affinity.
- Maintain consistent oversight and awareness of campaign results and proactively take corrective action, as needed, to optimize results.
- Lead the development and implementation of the Sens App and ensure it is enhanced, upgraded and maintained at the highest standards.
- Evaluate market trends and adjust strategies to adapt to the changing market and competitive conditions.
- Oversee our in-arena Game Production team to create a high energy, fan-friendly, in-game experience.
- Manage our Community Development and Alumni Relations team to ensure that we are proactively putting ‘sticks in hands’ and developing future hockey fans while giving back to the community in a meaningful way.
- Be a strategic partner to Corporate Partnerships to ensure the organization’s partners are supporting sales through internal and external partner distribution channels.
- Collaborate with senior management to ensure all creative assets properly reflect the brand and are consistent with marketing and sales objectives.
- Organize and deliver our in-house creative efforts for marketing materials in print, video and motion graphics.
- Collaborate with all other departments to ensure cross-platform execution.
- Develop and execute comprehensive and measurable customer acquisition, retention, and loyalty marketing strategies to drive sales and gross margin cross the Capital Sports & Entertainment portfolio.
- Oversee and manage ottawasenators.com to ensure it is supporting our financial objectives and serving a vital source of information and content for our Fans.
- Drive brand strategy through integrated marketing and supporting media campaigns that elevate the company’s brand, products, and services through digital performance marketing, partnerships.
- Effectively manage brand and reputational risk to ensure the brand is aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Develop and implement multi-channel, multi-segment marketing campaigns based on industry-leading insight that leverage existing brand equity to grow transaction count, trip frequency, and average basket.
- Manage through data analytics and savvy financially sound marketing solutions to aggressively deliver ROI on media / promotional / pricing initiatives.
- Oversee and evaluate market insights to identify trends and adjust marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions maximizing ROI on marketing spend. Utilize customer and market data to drive pricing, promotional and strategic decisions.
- Develop and administer the marketing budget, and provide comprehensive reporting and growth metrics.
- Create internal synergies to expand brand exposure and leverage relationships with internal and external business partners across all entities (NHL, AHL, Sensplex, OBB, concerts and events).
Qualifications
Experience in leading and managing a large multi-disciplinary department and a proven track record in supporting your team members to achieve overall success.10+ years as a marketing thought leader, with at least 5 years in omnichannel, retail, agency or related industry with a focus on customer acquisition, retention, and loyalty.Thought leader who is a proven functional expert, a growth strategist, and a pragmatic business partner.Hands-on experience in branding, digital marketing, events, and strategic partnerships.Extensive knowledge of CRM, data analytics, and marketing strategy development.Excellent verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire.Drives the company’s internal and external communications across all market touchpoints.Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred).Bilingual (English / French) is considered a strong asset.Seniority level
