Make an impact with our Recovery & Restructuring team as a Vice-President (Manager or Senior Manager). Responsibilities
- Lead the proposal, planning and delivery of corporate insolvency services including identifying the strategic, operational and financial challenges of a business, recommending immediate stabilizing activities, providing operational and performance improvement advice and addressing debt restructuring, refinancing or recovery needs
- Lead data analysis, review of accounting records and the development of financial models
- Execute formal and informal restructurings and administer formal insolvency appointments including bankruptcies, proposals, receiverships, CCAAs, liquidations, etc.
- Advise lenders, creditors or shareholders through financial reviews, business turnarounds, restructurings, bankruptcies, liquidations, etc.
- Develop relationships with special loan financiers, insolvency lawyers, business executives, etc.
- Prepare and review all statutory documentation associated with the BIA, CCAA, Wind-Up Acts, Business Corporation Acts, etc.
- Manage engagement planning and scheduling as well as project financials (budgets, WIP, timely billing, collection, variance recognition)
- Identify innovative ways to deliver added value to stakeholders; ensure stakeholders’ needs are met and relationships grow and develop
- Maintain high quality control and apply specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify and address issues or key risks relevant to businesses
- Network in the local business community, consider business development opportunities and lead the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet stakeholders’ needs
- Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and conducting performance reviews
- Contribute to strategic and operational planning related to stakeholder and practice management, as well as the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Completion of a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP) certification and is a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT)
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is considered an asset
- 5+ years of insolvency experience, specifically corporate insolvency experience
- Extensive knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
- Strong business and practice development skills
- Proven people management, relationships building and leadership skills
- Strong strategic planning and conceptual thinking skills
