Job Title: Vice President, Investor Relations, Alternatives Distribution, BMO Global Asset Management, Toronto
Overview:
As Vice President, Investor Relations within the Alternatives Distribution Team, you will play a crucial role in providing subject matter expertise in the development and implementation of key processes related to investor relations communications for alternative investment products at BMO GAM.
You will be responsible for communicating the full lineup of BMO GAM’s alternative products, strategy, performance, and market positioning to existing and prospective investors. You will also provide support in managing fundraising activities, research trips, and investor reporting. Working closely with senior leadership, product, and operation teams, you will ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and compelling materials including pitch decks, fund updates, quarterly reports, and responses to RFPs.
In this role, you will help shape and execute the Alternatives Distribution’s investor engagement strategy across a diverse range of private markets strategies such as private equity, private credit, real assets or hedge funds.
The successful candidate must show understanding and knowledge of the Private Markets landscape, exceptional communication skills and proven track record of working with sophisticated investors. The role is both institutional and retail wealth focus.
The position demands a high degree of detail, flexibility to travel and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Strategy Development: Contribute to the development of sales strategies aligned with business goals and market trends.
- Distribution Management: Support the management of distribution channels effectively to ensure broad market penetration and maximize sales opportunities in your region.
- Investor Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential investors, addressing their inquiries and needs promptly and professionally.
- Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of the firm's products and services to effectively articulate value propositions to clients and investors.
- Pitch Development: Responsible to create compelling pitch materials and presentations tailored to specific client needs and preferences.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor sales performance metrics, track client engagement, and generate regular monthly and quarterly reports for investors and internal management.
- Events and Conferences Participation: Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and seminars to network with key stakeholders and promote brand visibility.
- Client Servicing: Provide exceptional client service throughout the sales cycle, from initial contact to post-sale support and relationship management.
- CRM Management Leadership: Utilize available CRM systems effectively to track interactions, manage client data, and generate actionable insights for business development.
- Compliance Adherence: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies in all sales and investor relations activities.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with client relationships, investments, and market developments to protect the firm's interests.
- Ethical Conduct: Uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct in all interactions with clients, investors, and colleagues.
- Training and Development: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Problem Solving: Address client inquiries, concerns, and challenges promptly and effectively, demonstrating a solutions-oriented approach.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of six years total experience with a minimum of three years in Alternative Investments or Asset Management.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or related field; MBA, CAIA or CFA is a plus.
- Strong understanding of private markets industry, financial products, investment strategies, and market dynamics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite (requires very strong PowerPoint and Excel skills).
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, investors, and industry partners.
- Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning.
- Ability and willingness to travel (~15%).
- Proficiency in a foreign language such as French, Mandarin, Cantonese, etc. is a plus.

Reporting to: Head of Alternatives Distribution, BMO Global Asset Management
Salary: $84,000.00 - $156,000.00
Pay Type: Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
