Representing Canada’s innovative pharmaceutical industry, Innovative Medicines Canada (IMC) helps their members discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines and vaccines. IMC achieves their goals by forming alliances, supporting policies, improving Canada’s regulatory environment, widening access to innovative medicines, and ensuring the effective protection of intellectual property. By working with governments, insurance companies, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to advance the field of pharmaceutical research and development and enhance the wellbeing of Canadians.

Reporting to the President, the Vice President, Government Relations will develop and execute a high impact government relations and stakeholder strategy that positions the association as a thought leader and partner on issues related to healthcare and the industry at large. This is an opportunity to advance and make an impact on the approach to advocacy at IMC. The organization is prepared to be bold in their approach in developing, leading, and executing strategic advocacy and government relations to advance the organization's objectives. The role of Vice President, Government Relations for IMC is a critical and high-profile role with IMC’s member companies and the broader health care industry. Success in the role requires exceptional team and stakeholder leadership ability; a demonstrated track record of impact and achievement; ability to navigate complex issues through a strategic lens; and being present with a broad network of government and stakeholder relationships.

The ideal candidate is an expert in developing and implementing strategic government relations plans and brings an established and well-maintained network to draw upon. A visionary and strategic leader, you have demonstrated your ability to gain buy-in and establish partnerships across various stakeholder groups along with having a solid track record of making an impact and a difference in your organization’s industry. You bring 10+ years of experience leading a government relations function and team in a highly regulated organization or industry, and a strong knowledge of the key players in government. Bilingual (English / French) is required.
