Ecopia AI is an industry-leading artificial intelligence company that extracts insight from geospatial big data. Millions of geospatial images are captured daily by satellites, airplanes, and other vehicles. Ecopia converts this flood of imagery into high-definition (HD) maps, empowering a wide range of decision-makers with better information about the physical world.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a Vice President, Finance to play a critical role in the strategic direction and financial health of our Company. This role is responsible for managing the company's financial actions, including financial planning, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of financial data. This role will report to the President and Chief Executive Officer.

Ecopia's flexible hybrid remote working environment allows you to work from home and / or our office in the beautiful MaRS Discovery District building at 101 College Street in Toronto. Join us on the journey to map the world!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develop and execute the company's financial strategy aligned with short-term and long-term business objectives.
  • Drive financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Assess and manage financial risks, proposing strategies to mitigate them effectively.

Financial Reporting and Analysis :

  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports, statements and analysis
  • Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to support strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations and financial laws.
  • Manage all financial reporting and audit aspects of Government grants.

Capital Management, Financial Operations & Controls :

  • Manage the company's capital structure and ensure optimal allocation of resources.
  • Oversee financial due diligence and process management.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Supervise financial operations, including accounting, tax and audit functions.

Stakeholder & Relationship and Team Management :

  • Act as a liaison between the company, financial institutions, auditors, and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial performance, strategies and risks effectively to stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage the internal financial team.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Proven experience as VP, Finance, Director, Finance or in a Senior Financial Management role.
  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; CPA or CFA certification preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis and financial reporting.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills to lead and develop the finance team.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to contribute to the overall business strategy.
