Vice President, Finance
Our client is seeking a Vice President, Finance to join their team in Edmonton. The successful candidate will shape the organization's financial strategy and lead the company's financial accounting and financial planning & analysis (FP&A) functions. This role will require a strong analytical mindset, exceptional leadership ability, and a deep understanding of financial management principles.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

1. Collaborate with the team to define and implement financial strategies that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
2. Lead the analysis of financial data, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to inform strategic decisions and improve financial performance.
3. Oversee the annual budgeting process along with financial forecasting, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and accurate projections.
4. Manage and maintain long-range financial forecasting tools to model scenarios and help the business plan for and manage growth.
5. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
6. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess financial health and operational efficiency.
7. Partner with other functions of the business to build financial plans/budgets as well as financial modelling and tracking of ROI on major initiatives & projects.
8. Build and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and analytical thinking.
9. Present financial analysis and insights to the team to support strategic initiatives.
10. Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the organization’s financial stability.
11. Manage financial risk including insurance and hedging of FX.
12. Represent the Company externally, particularly in banking, financial services, and audit.
13. Assist with the implementation of a new ERP system, including leading the design and build-out of the financial module(s) and driving continuous process improvement and automation after the launch of the new system.
14. Lead the finance and I.T. functions.
15. Assist in special projects as required.

Your strengths include:

1. Degree in Business or Finance, with a Professional Chartered Accounting (CPA) designation and proven experience working in a financial leadership role.
2. 15+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, including experience in an executive-level capacity.
3. Excellent understanding of financial principles and accounting standards.
4. Strong analytical skills with a track record of leveraging financial data to drive business decisions.
5. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
6. Advanced proficiency in financial software and systems, ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and reporting & business intelligence (BI) tools.
7. Experience with ERP implementation and system upgrades.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.
9. Exposure and understanding of GenAI, ML tools and governance.
10. Excellent business acumen and financial analysis.
