What is the opportunity?

We are currently seeking a Vice President, Credit Structures to lead our Retail credit team working with our high net worth Private Banking clients across Western Canada. Lending to this client segment involves complex loan underwriting and lending structures with credit facilities up to $10MM. Our clients are highly entrepreneurial, focused on seizing opportunities and growing wealth. They are typically important strategic relationships with businesses across the enterprise, including Canadian Banking, Wealth Management, and Corporate Banking. We are recognized as industry leaders in this market. This role involves leading a highly skilled and engaged lending team supported by strong partnerships with Risk Management.

What will you do?

  • Lead, coach, and develop a cross-geographical team of Private Banking lending professionals
  • Drive excellent and consistent customer experience, establishing and maintaining dedicated turnaround times, effectively managing deal flow, and ensuring active monitoring and follow-up
  • Ensure lending solutions are innovative, reflective of clients' financial strength and enterprise value, and supported by strong structures and business cases
  • Drive significant growth in our lending business and maintain our leadership position
  • Collaborate with Private Banking Strategy, Risk, Product, Operations, and Sales teams to enhance our lending capabilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure our product offerings are best in class and our delivery model is scalable for future growth

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • University degree with business-related knowledge
  • Extensive lending experience, including formulating creative lending solutions, building effective loan structures, and thorough loan underwriting
  • Strong client focus, negotiation skills, ability to manage tight timelines, decisiveness, results orientation, teamwork, self-motivation, and excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Ability to collaborate with other areas within the bank such as Risk Management, Business Banking, Capital Markets, and Insurance to develop solutions
  • Commitment to delivering an exemplary customer experience with creative solutions and prompt delivery
  • Capacity to drive business performance while executing strategic initiatives
  • Experience in leading, coaching, and developing high-performance teams

Nice to Have

  • Additional relevant designations (e.g., CFA, MBA, CFP)
  • Proven ability to generate new business, leveraging networks and building new relationships
  • Experience in business or commercial markets, including lending, account management, or risk management
