What is the opportunity?

We are currently seeking a Vice President, Credit Structures to lead our Retail credit team working with our high net worth Private Banking clients across Western Canada. Lending to this client segment involves complex loan underwriting and lending structures with credit facilities up to $10MM. Our clients are highly entrepreneurial in nature, focused on seizing opportunities and growing wealth. As well, they are typically important strategic relationships with business across the enterprise including Canadian Banking, Wealth Management and Corporate Banking. We are recognized as industry leaders in this market. This is a highly skilled and engaged lending team supported by strong partnership with Risk Management.

What will you do?

  • Lead, coach and develop a highly engaged, cross geographical team of Private Banking lending professionals
  • Drive excellent and consistent customer experience, establishing and leading to dedicated turnaround times, flexing deal flow effectively across team, active monitoring and follow-up
  • Ensuring our lending solutions are creative and leading edge, reflective of the financial strength and enterprise value of the client base. Ensure we build strong structures and business cases
  • Drive significant growth in our lending business and maintain our leadership position
  • Work closely with our Private Banking Strategy team as well as key partners in Risk, Product, Operations and Sales to build our lending capability
  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure our product offering is best in class and our delivery model scalable for future growth

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • University graduate with business related knowledge
  • Strong lending experience including the ability to formulate creative lending solutions, build effective loan structures and complete thorough loan underwriting
  • Strong client focus, negotiating skills, ability to manage to tight timelines/ decisiveness, results orientation/Team player & self-motivated/Excellent communication skills, both spoken & written
  • The ability to partner and lever other areas of expertise within the bank in the development of solutions will be essential (e.g., Risk Management, Business Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance)
  • Dedicated to exemplary customer experience – creative solution and best in class delivery time
  • Desire and capacity to concurrently drive business performance and strategic business
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing a high performance team

Nice to Have

  • Additional business relevant designations (e.g. CFA, MBA, CFP)
  • Ability and experience driving new business – strong new business orientation including leveraging COI network
  • Experience in business / commercial markets, including lending and account management, or risk management
