As VP, Credit Alternatives, you will play a key leadership role in the analysis, structuring, and active management of CLOs and other Credit Alternative products. You will collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, and credit analysts, contribute to deal execution, and drive investment performance through hands-on asset management and market insight.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze new-issue and secondary CLO tranches(AAA through equity)

  • Evaluate deal structures, waterfalls, and manager quality

  • Monitor performance of existing CLO positions, including cash flows, test results, and collateral quality

  • Build and maintain cash flow modelsusing tools like Intex or proprietary systems

  • Assist in structuring new CLO dealsand resets/refis

  • Work with lawyers, arrangers, and rating agencieson transaction execution

  • Review and negotiate indenture terms, collateral eligibility criteria, and manager strategies

  • Conduct relative value analysisacross CLO tranches, credit sectors, and structured credits alternatives

  • Underwrite broadly syndicated and club loans

  • Coordinate with internal or external direct lendingand loan trading

  • Track issuer-level credit trends and build/maintain watchlists

  • Produce internal credit memosand present recommendations to the Investment Committee

  • Track and assess macro, regulatory, and credit trendsthat affect structured credit markets

  • Liaise with deal counterparties, syndicate desks, and CLO managers

  • Interface with investor relations, finance, and complianceteams

  • Mentor junior analysts and associates on credit modeling and market analysis

  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years in structured credit, and/or leveraged loans(analysis, trading, structuring, or asset management)

  • Bachelor’s in Finance, Economics, Math, or related field; MBA/CFA or Masters degree a plus

  • Deep understanding of CLO mechanics (OC/IC tests, manager tiers, tranche pricing); strong analytical and modeling skills

  • Proficiency in Intex, Excel/VBA, Bloomberg; familiarity with Python or SQL is a plus

  • Advanced understanding of business line and a growing understanding of the overall firm and the competitive environment.

  • Advanced understanding of specialized discipline and gaining understanding of other disciplines.

  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Salary :

$95,200.00 - $176,400.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
