What is the opportunity?

This specialized Vice President, Credit Advisory role focuses on underwriting credit for our clients—Canada’s most exciting, fastest-growing technology and life sciences companies. The Vice President is a key member of the Credit Advisory team, supporting existing and prospective clients, liaising with internal and external parties, conducting research, due diligence, and performing quantitative and qualitative analysis.


What will you do?

  • Underwrite new credit proposals, including Venture Debt and Recurring Revenue Lines for prospective clients, and collaborate with Directors or Managing Directors on large and complex transactions.
  • Manage the administration, negotiations, and legal documentation required to establish new credits.
  • Lead due diligence calls with prospective clients and investors. Present credit proposals clearly and credibly, earning the trust of C-level management of clients and prospects.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, preparing annual reviews and credit revisions for approval by credit adjudicators.
  • Coach and develop junior team members, support new initiatives and projects as needed.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., finance, business, economics, engineering).
  • 7-12 years of experience in banking or financial services, or 4+ years in credit underwriting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including an excellent understanding of financial statements.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Interest in start-ups and the venture capital ecosystem.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with financial modeling and analysis.
  • Specialized industry expertise.
  • Working towards CFA, CPA, CBV, or other relevant professional designations.
  • Bilingual in French and English.
