Purpose

Ensure that Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR) risk measurements and models are designed and developed effectively. Lead the development of methodologies and tools to manage CCR and to meet CCR capital requirements. Facilitate information being provided to internal and external stakeholders including business line partners.

Accountabilities

Counterparty Credit Risk Measurement

Lead and manage the development and design of all key counterparty credit risk (CCR) measurement metrics for both trading and non-trading portfolios. Adapt existing measurements to align with changes in bank initiatives and to keep pace with industry advancements and regulations.

  • Drive CCR analytics practices and infrastructure. Collaborate with stakeholders to meet analytics reporting and oversight requirements.
  • Oversee the CCR capital calculation process including modelled and standardized approaches to measure default risk capital and support standardized approaches for CVA Capital.
  • Support the infrastructure for calculating CCR IMM Default CVA Capital and xVA.
  • Provide senior management stakeholders and OSFI with analysis opinions and projected impacts for model changes and regulatory proposals.
  • Lead the interpretation of CCR regulations and their application to the Bank. Actively participate in the Canadian Bankers Association CCR working groups.

Relationship Management

Work closely with key internal stakeholders within risk finance and business units.

Act as key contact and play a lead role with regulators in discussion of CCR modelling.

People Management

Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts retains and develops talent.

Foster an inclusive work environment; communicating vision values and business strategy

Education / Experience / Other Information

Technical skills :

A thorough understanding of financial markets including the risks / valuation of the full range of traded financial instruments including complex derivatives.

Strong analytical skills.

Well developed strategic thinking skills to adapt to developments in CCR.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to allow for explanation of complex issues to non-technical audiences.

Experience with interpreting regulation and developing CCR based measures.

Demonstrated leadership track record supported by well-developed analytical and strategic thinking competencies.

Project and management skills :

Strong project management skills with experience driving large projects to completion.

F lexible thinking and ability to work under tight timelines.

Education :

Very strong quantitative background e.g. Masters / PhD in finance or quantitative discipline and experience in developing quantitative models.
