Job description

What you’ll do

The Vice President of Compute is a strategic and technical leader responsible for overseeing the design, development, deployment, and optimization of the organization’s compute infrastructure. This includes on-premises data centers, cloud computing environments, high-performance computing (HPC), and edge computing platforms. The VP of Compute ensures scalable, secure, and cost-effective compute capabilities that support the company’s business goals and innovation roadmap.

Strategic Leadership:
  • Define and execute the compute strategy aligned with business objectives and digital transformation goals.
  • Lead long-term planning for compute capacity, performance, and emerging technologies.
Infrastructure Oversight:
  • Manage global compute infrastructure, including cloud (IaaS/PaaS), on-premises servers, and hybrid environments.
  • Oversee compute resource provisioning, orchestration, and automation.
Team Management:
  • Lead and mentor a team of infrastructure engineers, architects, and operations staff.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Technology Innovation:
  • Evaluate and implement next-generation compute technologies such as AI/ML accelerators, GPUs, and quantum computing.
  • Partner with R&D and product teams to support compute-intensive workloads.
Operational Excellence:
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security of compute platforms.
  • Drive cost optimization and efficiency through automation and cloud-native practices.
Vendor and Partner Management:
  • Manage relationships with cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), hardware vendors, and service integrators.
  • Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs).

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or cloud computing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in cloud platforms, virtualization, containerization, and compute architecture.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps, SRE, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) or AI/ML infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with edge computing and IoT platforms.
