The Opportunity TWF is seeking a Vice President, Community Generosity, reporting to the CEO. A member of the strategic management team, the incumbent will participate in shaping the strategic direction of the Foundation. The VP Community Generosity will be responsible for the overall engagement and stewardship of the Foundation’s current donors. Building bridges between donors’ charitable interests and community realities, this executive oversees the community generosity team (12 team members including 4 direct reports) to accomplish meaningful change through philanthropy, and serves as a visible, knowledgeable, and effective ambassador of TWF in our community.
Responsibilities
- Champion a Community-focused philosophy across the Foundation and collaborate with the Strategic Management Team to integrate donor engagement strategies into the overall organizational strategy.
- Assess, refine, and implement The Foundation’s donor stewardship strategy while communicating direction and priorities to staff to build alignment of effort.
- Develop and implement an annual departmental operational plan consistent with the overall strategic direction of The Foundation.
- Support development of the annual budget and monitor assigned budget areas.
- Develop effective processes and procedures related to community generosity.
- Provide strategic leadership to the Generosity team to develop, maintain and expand philanthropic relationships with donors.
- Hold a portfolio of prospects and key influencers for engagement and cultivation.
- Oversee donor recognition and acknowledgement practices, tracking, monitoring and seeking feedback from donors.
- Provide leadership to the planned giving area.
- Collaborate with the Information Management and Cybersecurity team in the advancement of technology solutions.
- Ensure strong, ongoing feedback is provided to all team members, including through annual performance reviews.
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in business, non-profit management, communications, or related field.
- CFRE designation or willingness to obtain.
- Minimum 10 years in a senior leadership role within a fund development environment, with experience reporting to the CEO or Board of Directors.
- Strategic thinker that achieves collaboration with positive inquiry.
- Highly knowledgeable on all aspects of philanthropy, including related best practices, applicable laws and regulations.
- Strong operational leader with the ability to build and execute departmental plans.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, able to interact effectively with the CEO, colleagues, Board members, donors, and our community.
- Proven capacity to understand systems and processes, provide practical solutions, and design innovative strategies to effectively adapt and transform the organization to address ever-changing needs.
