Responsibilities

The Corporate Vice President of Communications and Public Relations is a strategic leader responsible for extensive writing, editing, planning, development, and execution of the organization's communications and public relations. This role serves as a primary spokesperson for Prime Healthcare and oversees all corporate communications, media relations, investor communications, government relations support, and community engagement activities. The leader manages a team responsible for internal communications, executive communications, PR, media relations, crisis communications, corporate sponsorships, foundation activities, website development, digital marketing, and social media strategy. Collaboration with hospital leadership across the system is essential, and hospital communication teams report dotted-line to this role.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • 10+ years of successful communications experience in a healthcare delivery setting, including at the C-suite level.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior executives, board members, physicians, elected officials, and community stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing skills for diverse audiences.
  • Relationship-building experience with local and national media, including outlets like Becker’s Healthcare and Modern Healthcare.
  • Track record of leading corporate and regional communications, crisis management, media relations, and public relations initiatives.
  • Hands-on leadership style, working alongside teams under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, communication, planning, and leadership skills; diplomatic and able to foster positive relationships across the health system.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring abilities.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in a large, complex, national health system.
  • Experience with investor relations.
  • Knowledge of government relations and working with elected officials and stakeholders.
  • Connections or experience with national news media in key markets such as LA, NYC, and the Midwest.
  • Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or Journalism.

Prime Healthcare offers a competitive total rewards package including paid time off, 401K, medical/dental/vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and voluntary benefits. The estimated annual compensation range is $214,240 to $300,000, depending on factors such as location, experience, and credentials. Employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses based on performance.
