The National Capital Commission is seeking a Vice-President, Capital Stewardship to lead the management and conservation of outdoor spaces such as Gatineau Park and NCC urban parks. This role requires extensive senior management experience, strategic advising, and the ability to handle complex negotiations. The successful candidate will be committed to design excellence and innovative property stewardship, ensuring that NCC’s properties serve the public effectively while upholding conservation standards. Ideal candidates will possess a university degree, with a master’s preferred, and must demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and as a member of the Executive Management Committee (EMC), the Vice-President, Capital Stewardship, provides leadership in the achievement of NCC objectives and is responsible and accountable for the development and implementation of policies and programs governing the effective management, conservation and stewardship of all of the NCC's outdoor spaces, including Gatineau Park, the Greenbelt, NCC urban parks, its pathways network and more. The incumbent is also responsible for the management and improvement of the properties, grounds and infrastructures of Canada’s six Official Residences in the National Capital Region.
While based at NCC’s headquarters in downtown Ottawa, the incumbent is expected to regularly survey NCC assets throughout the National Capital Region with the goal of maximizing public use and enjoyment, upholding the NCC’s commitment to design, conservation and maintenance excellence as well as developing new ideas to animate and activate the NCC’s extensive lands and properties.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION : University degree in a discipline related to the position. A master’s degree is considered an asset.
EXPERIENCE : A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive senior management level experience in each of the following areas :
