Purpose

  1. Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for advanced analytics and data driven insight and decision making globally. Ensures business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
  2. The VP and Head, CAO is responsible to develop and implement an integrated strategy and delivery plan to embed analytics capabilities and enable growth for business lines and corporate functions, including:
    1. Work with business leaders to adopt industry-leading analytics capabilities to improve quality, sophistication, and efficiency of models driving business value and client experience.
    2. Support connectivity of business strategy across regions and ensure consistency of analytics approach globally.
    3. Act as a trusted advisor for business leaders to uncover insights and opportunities for Scotiabank and its clients, leveraging advanced analytics and translating findings into strategic considerations.
    4. Collaborate within Customer Insights, Data & Analytics (CIDA) and with business line Technology and business partners to accelerate the development and delivery of trusted, reusable data for management insights and advanced analytics.

Accountabilities

  1. Leads and drives a customer-focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  2. Delivers effective analytics capability with clear business outcomes, including:
    1. Builds strong and effective working relationships with key stakeholders to understand business objectives and success drivers, assess current state, and prioritize initiatives for strategic fit and business benefit.
    2. Identifies opportunities to infuse insights and capabilities into business leaders' strategies and operations based on emerging data, analytics, and technology trends.
    3. Acts as the subject matter expert to build capabilities and leverage the use of external benchmarking data points.
    4. Translates business strategies / objectives into analytics solutions that deliver value-added, customer-centric solutions, in partnership with CIDA, Technology and corporate functions.
    5. Partners within CIDA to implement effective operating model that integrates data and analytics processes across the team.
    6. Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to enable a culture that promotes critical thinking and change leadership.
    7. Owns accountability for execution and delivery of agreed-upon business leaders analytics objectives to ensure committed benefits are realized, providing updates to key stakeholders and leaders on a regular basis.
    8. Champions and supports strategic initiatives that strengthen Scotiabank's global advanced analytics capabilities.

Education / Experience / Other Information

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science or related field.
  2. Minimum 10 years experience in corporate executive roles including analytics, and/or business development and partnerships, preferably in financial services.
  3. Expertise in data modeling, machine learning, AI and advanced analytics tools.
  4. Strong business acumen and ability to translate analytics into business insights.
  5. Demonstrated success building and leading large, distributed teams in a matrixed and complex environment.
  6. Ability to collaborate with others and foster/maintain productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Superlative communication skills and storytelling ability; able to inspire across the organization with both the vision and potential that analytics and innovation must transform our business.
  8. Inspirational leader - ability to inspire across the organization with both the vision and potential that analytics must transform our business.
  9. Thorough knowledge of current and emerging digital user and customer experience trends.

Working Conditions

  1. Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
  2. Regular travel globally.
