Job description

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President of Accounting & Administration drives organizational success through strategic leadership and operational excellence. This role oversees finance, budgeting, accounting, IT, administration, and tax functions for the organization and its affiliates.

The VP fosters a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement, providing trusted financial insights and leadership that align with the company’s values of integrity, community, partnership, and creating opportunity. Reporting to the President, this role empowers teams, drives process improvements, and ensures responsible governance.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership :

Shape and execute organizational strategy as part of the Senior Management Team.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across finance, administration, and IT functions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the President and leadership team, delivering critical financial and operational insights.

Direct financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes.

  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and transactional finance functions.
  • Oversee profit-sharing, executive bonuses, and sales commissions.
  • Lead financial due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other opportunities.
  • Operational Excellence & Technology Leadership :

Drive improvements in processes, systems, and reporting tools.

  • Oversee IT operations, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support audit requirements and ensure timely filings (e.g., GST, PST).
  • Travel ~25% (to branches and Calgary head office).

Qualifications

  • CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA, or equivalent) and a university degree.

  • Expertise in commission-based sales environments (preferred).
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, Power BI, and data analytics tools.
