Job summary

Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Centre is seeking a Veterinary Technologist (RVT) to join our Diagnostic Imaging team in Calgary. The successful candidate will operate CT, X-ray and Fluoroscopy, producing high-quality diagnostic images across diverse patients while collaborating with colleagues to ensure optimal outcomes.

Must have completion of a Veterinary Technician program with provincial registration eligibility; two-site work and occasional solo radiography duties are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Veterinary Technician or Animal Health Technician program with eligibility for registration in the applicable province.
• Experience in a veterinary hospital or clinical setting is an asset.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate CT, X-ray and Fluoroscopy across two sites, sometimes solo on duty.
• Produce high‑quality diagnostic images across breeds and sizes, adapting radiographic techniques.
• Ensure compliance with site policies, radiation safety and regulations; maintain accurate records.

Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Centre is welcoming a Veterinary Technologist, Diagnostic Imaging to join our team of skilled veterinary professionals. While our network is large, we still offer that local community feeling, mentorship, and additional training! Completion of a Veterinary Technician or Animal Health Technician program, with eligibility for registration in the applicable province.

Experience in a veterinary hospital or clinical setting is an asset.

Strong knowledge of patient care, anesthesia, pharmacology, and clinical procedures.

Strong technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, laboratory procedures, and patient assessment.

Ability to safely handle and restrain animals using appropriate techniques.

Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Compassionate, patient-focused approach to animal care.

Commitment to continuing education and ongoing professional development.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.

The radiographer's job role involves working across two sites, sometimes as the only radiographer on duty, with responsibilities in operating CT, X-ray and Fluoroscopy. DI tech is trained and confident in using the following equipment: CT Ultrasound X-RAY C-Arm

The successful candidate will produce high-quality diagnostic images across a variety of patient breeds and sizes, adapting radiographic techniques across modalities while collaborating effectively with colleagues to support optimal patient outcomes. They will also ensure compliance with site policies, radiation safety procedures, and applicable Radiation Regulations, while maintaining accurate records and handling confidential information.
