Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years as a practicing Veterinary Technician.
  • Previous dentistry experience is desired.
  • Ability to keep accurate patient records.

Veterinary Technician, RVT

Department: Dentistry Location: Ottawa, ON

Alta Vista Animal Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Technician to join our established network of highly skilled professionals. You will have an opportunity to use your skills to the fullest potential! Our veterinary technicians are given the necessary tools and resources to be successful in pursuing multiple passions within our hospital. You will have opportunities to expand your learning through extensive exposure and involvement in many specialty cases.

  • Minimum of 3 years as a practicing Veterinary Technician

  • Previous dentistry experience is desired

  • Organize daily bookings and prepare caseload file information for Veterinarians and the dentistry team

  • Point of contact between Veterinarian, Pet Owner and specialty departments

  • Experience with and willing to enhance technical skills; anesthesia, CRI’s, epidurals and mechanical ventilators

  • Work closely with the ICU team and treatment team, and assist where necessary

  • Ability to thrive in a steady and often fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues

  • Proven ability to keep accurate patient records

  • Strong ability to problem-solve

Who is Alta Vista Animal Hospital

Located in Ottawa, ON., Alta Vista Animal Hospital is a growing multidisciplinary hybrid hospital with Referral, Emergency, and General Practice services all under the same roof. Our board-certified specialists provide care in ophthalmology, cardiology, oncology, and Internal Medicine and have access to on-site MRI and CT diagnostics. With a dedicated staff of 160, including 30 veterinarians, we offer excellence in veterinary medicine because we are passionate about what we do!

We are located at 2616 Bank Street, 20 minutes south of the vibrant downtown Ottawa Market and operate out of a 24,500 square foot facility. We have a large referring veterinarian community of over 300 General practice and Emergency hospitals. A full suite of on-site diagnostic imaging includes a Toshiba Aquilion 64 slice CT, .25T Vet MR MRI, Pulsera Fluoroscopy unit, Philips ultrasound and echocardiogram and two Sound digital radiograph suites.
