Alta Vista Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Centre in Ottawa, ON is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician for our Neurology department. The RVT will collaborate with specialists to guide patients through diagnostics, procedures, and recovery, while supporting worried pet parents.

You will coordinate caseloads, communicate across teams, and assist with inpatient care in a fast-paced environment. This role offers a supportive team, ongoing education, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience as a practicing Veterinary Technician.
• Experience with anesthesia, CRIs, epidurals and mechanical ventilators.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong charting and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to compassionate client and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Caseload coordination: organize daily bookings and prep caseload information for veterinarians and neurology team.
• Care liaison: facilitate prompt, transparent communication among departments and with pet parents; assist ICU and treatment teams.
• Client guidance: provide clear hospitalization updates, discharge instructions, and home-care plans.
• Teamwork and inpatient support: collaborate with technicians and medical teams for patient monitoring and shift transitions.
• Shift availability: maintain flexibility across rotating day and evening shifts for ICU dynamics.

Compensation: $19.00 to $38.00 per hour, depending on experience and skills.

Alta Vista Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Centre welcomes a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Neurology team in Ottawa, Ontario. When a pet experiences a neurological issue, having a calm and caring team makes all the difference. As an RVT in our Neurology department, you’ll be the heart of our patient care. You’ll partner with our specialists to guide pets safely through diagnostic imaging, procedures, and post-operative recovery, while helping worried pet parents feel informed, supported, and reassured throughout their pet's healing process.

What You'll Do

• Caseload Coordination: Organize daily bookings and prepare caseload file information for Veterinarians and the neurology team.
• Care Liaison: Facilitate prompt, transparent communication among specialty departments and pet parents, and work closely with the ICU team and treatment team, assisting as needed.
• Client Guidance: Offer compassionate support and clear explanations of hospitalization updates, discharge instructions, and home-care plans.
• Teamwork and Inpatient Support: Collaborate with technicians and medical teams to support patient monitoring, treatment workflows, and shift transitions.
• Shift Availability: Maintain flexibility across rotating day and evening shifts to meet the dynamic needs of our intensive care unit.

What You Bring

• Minimum 2+ years of experience as a practicing Veterinary Technician.
• Experience with, and willingness to enhance, technical skills: anesthesia, CRI's, epidurals and mechanical ventilators.
• Fast-paced environment adaptability.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, collaborative approach to working with colleagues and supporting pet parents.
