Job description

Join to apply for the Veterinary Extern - General Practice role at NVA Canada.

An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand daily practice operations and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, they share common features: a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.

Students will work closely with supervising veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Externs will also have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.

Students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view stipend amounts and HERE for details on the stipend program.
