Veterinary Assistant

Location: Lake Country, BC

Tri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre in Lake Country, BC, is welcoming a dedicated full-time Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our team. We want great team players who enjoy a fast-paced environment and are passionate about making a REAL difference in the lives of our patients and clients.

As we continue to expand our ER department to 24/7 services, TA shifts will range from daytime to evening and include overnights, as well as shared weekend shifts and Stat holidays. Of course, should a night owl emerge with a preference for overnights, the option for a strict overnight schedule is always available. Otherwise, the sharing of these shifts via rotation helps to maintain a healthy work-life balance for ALL!

What you need

• Previous veterinary experience is a considerable asset.
• Exceptional client service skills that build trust and loyalty with clients.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with a dynamic and diverse team.
• Compassion and nurturing attitude when providing care to clients and patients.
• Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful situations.
• Positive outlook and enthusiasm for learning.
• Initiative in carrying out assignments independently.

Your role will be

• Assisting Veterinarians and Technicians with client support and treatment of pet patients, including low-stress restraint techniques.
• Providing support to the Client Care service, occasionally covering shifts in reception when necessary.
• Preparing medications and supplies for clients to take home (per DVM and RVT instruction).
• Providing compassionate care to hospitalized patients, including feeding and walking.
• Handling and maintaining surgical equipment, including setup, cleaning and sterilization.
• General hospital care including cleaning kennels, restocking treatment areas, and maintenance of outdoor areas.

Compensation: $18.00 - 21.00 per hour. Additional premiums are provided for overnight shifts.
