Job description

Veterinary Assistant

Location: Comox, BC

Shamrock Animal Hospital in Comox, BC is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This position works 40 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care, with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen.

In this position, you will be supporting our Doctors and Technicians team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining medical records
  • Preparing surgical suite and surgical patients.
  • Filling prescriptions.
  • Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
  • Providing compassionate care and a home away from home for boarded and hospitalized pets and general hospital maintenance including cleaning kennels

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with a dynamic and diverse team
  • Compassion and nurturing attitude when providing care to clients and patients
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful situations

  • Initiative in carrying out assignments independently
  • Previous veterinary education or certificate is preferred

Compensation: $18.00 to $25.00 per hour. The hourly rate range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
