Job summary

Valley Veterinary Hospital in Fredericton, NB, part of NVA Canada, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinary teams with patient care and routine tasks in a AAHA-accredited clinic.

You will assist with a variety of services, monitor hospitalized pets, maintain inventory, restrain animals during procedures, and help clients with their pets in a collaborative hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals, even when stressed or in pain.
• Experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to meet the physical demands; lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets and aid after surgery.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Aid routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal).
• Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment.
• Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas.
• Administer medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision.
• Feeding/bathing animals.
• Helping clients with their pets.
