Askey Animal Hospital welcomes an experienced, dependable, and caring Client Care Coordinator / Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This full-time opportunity requires a minimum of 3 years' experience in the veterinary industry and includes responsibilities that contribute to the efficient and effective daily operation of the hospital. Your primary responsibility is to ensure our clients and their pets feel welcomed, expertly cared for, and appreciated!
Key responsibilities and attributes for the Technician Assistant / Vet Assistant role include:
- Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
- Create a warm and welcoming environment for patients and pet parents
- Foster a positive, low-stress atmosphere for clients and patients
- Perform general housekeeping duties; maintain cleanliness of reception, pet holding, and common areas
- Demonstrate compassion and a nurturing attitude
- Remain calm in stressful situations and adapt to changing circumstances
- Work efficiently and independently to complete assignments
- Take initiative to complete tasks throughout the day
- Possession of a Veterinary Assistant (VA) or Veterinary Office Assistant (VOA) program certificate is an asset
Additional responsibilities include:
- Over 3 years of customer service and client care experience
- Ability to answer multiline phone systems and effectively manage appointment scheduling
- Make outbound calls to pet owners for follow-up and future bookings
- Respond to and manage email correspondence with clients, referring veterinarians, and internal staff
- Admit and discharge pet patients
- Handle invoicing, billing, creating estimates, obtaining owner confirmation, and processing payments
- Schedule appointments
- Provide excellent customer service, creating a welcoming environment and putting people at ease
- Maintain strong organizational skills
- Willing to learn more about veterinary services, updated medical office procedures, and assist veterinary staff as needed
- Previous customer service or front desk experience in hospitality or retail is an asset
