Job summary

Allandale Veterinary Hospital in Barrie, ON is looking for a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our busy, 14-doctor team. You will help deliver high‑quality patient care and client service in a supportive hospital environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with treatments, monitoring hospitalized and post‑op patients, restraining animals, supporting diagnostics, and maintaining sterile instruments and kennels. Training is provided.

Qualifications

  • Veterinary Assistant College Certificate is preferred but not required.
  • 1+ year of experience is preferred but not required—we will train the right person.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. Comfort working in a fast-paced hospital environment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced environment where every day brings something new to learn — and, of course, something fluffy to cuddle.

The Role

Veterinary Assistants are the primary support for the entire hospital team. Every department relies on this role to help deliver exceptional patient care and outstanding client service.

You will:

  • Assist with patient care and treatments.

What We’re Looking For
  • A motivated self-starter who can multitask and works well in a team.
  • Someone who genuinely enjoys working with animals, including those who are stressed, ill, or in pain, using safe handling principles.
  • Veterinary Assistant College Certificate preferred (but not required).
  • 1+ year of experience preferred (but not required — we will train the right person).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.Comfort working in a fast-paced hospital environment.
