Job description

Venue Bookings Manager

The MRG Group

Toronto, ON

Who we are:

MRG is Canada’s largest independent concert promoter and live entertainment venue operator. We produce over 1000 events annually across 9 owned and operated venues and have produced concerts hosted in clubs and arenas domestically, as well as Europe and Asia-Pacific. Our diverse portfolio includes leading hospitality businesses, experiential venues like Par Tee Putt and Par Tee Pong, as well as AdmitOne, the fastest-growing multi-product ticketing platform in North America. We are at the forefront of the experience economy.

Who you are:

Reporting directly to the National Head of Venues, the Venue Bookings Manager will be responsible for programming the venue calendars in collaboration with MRG Live and our legacy partners. This individual will field inbound rental requests as well as generate more content via industry outreach and develop internal programming. With your ear to the ground in the local and cross country music scene, you are excited to act as an ambassador of the venue and our organization as a whole.

The Fine Print:

  • Handle venue rental requests, manage and update venue calendars with MRG Live and Sales, and oversee rental settlements and payouts.
  • Challenge calendar holds and confirm show dates as required.
  • Support promoters and clients by coordinating with Business Affairs (contracts, insurance, banking), ticketing (Admit One Pro), marketing, and venue operations for production.
  • Identify and secure co-pro partners, and draft deal points for co-pro events.
  • Coordinate with co-pro partners across Business Affairs (agreements, insurance, banking), ticketing (Admit One Powered By), marketing, venue operations, and oversee settlements and payouts.
  • Develop internal programming for venues, including but not limited to local and touring band nights, DJ or club night events, sports viewing events, holiday events, etc.
  • Oversee offers, contracts, immigration and travel arrangements for talent buys in collaboration with Business Affairs and MRG Travel.
  • Work closely with the MRG Sales Team to drive corporate/private buyout events.
  • Oversee the venue marketing team and collaborate on programming outreach initiatives to ensure effective execution and support across all efforts.
  • Track and report weekly on business development, outreach, and performance metrics, while identifying areas for improvement and creating action plans to support growth.
  • Develop shoulder season (winter/summer) booking strategies to populate the venue calendars with content.
  • Leverage the MRG Network to encourage cross-pollination of all business units.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A passion for music!
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and/or Microsoft, specifically in Sheets or Excel knowledge.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills including ability to learn project management software (Asana) (training provided).
  • Adept venue economics knowledge, specifically concert budgets, and show costs vs revenue streams.
  • Proven track record of sales capabilities.
  • An existing network of event coordinators, promoters, agents, as well as talent and artists from local to international.

What’s In It For You?

  • Competitive starting salary with an attractive commission program.
  • A generous vacation package which allows you to rest and rejuvenate throughout the year.
  • Participation in the MRG Travel Ambassador Program.
  • A fun and casual environment. You will be joining a close-knit, innovative team of creative and energetic go-getters.
  • Employee discounts to our concerts, shows and hospitality venues.
  • A welcoming, fun and safe work environment where everyone can show up authentically to work each day and feel respected.
  • Career development opportunities with a company that encourages individuals to learn and grow.

Thank you for your interest in MRG. Given the anticipated interest in this role, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
