Job description

Covanta Environmental Solutions (CES) offers a turnkey solution to various industries for the management of residual waste materials. CES simplifies the management of hazardous materials, solid or liquid finished products, recyclable materials, and controlled substances in a responsible, environmentally friendly, and safe manner.

A Vehicle Operator performs duties associated with transporting hazardous and non-hazardous waste between Covanta facilities, third-party facilities, and the Client’s sites. Vehicle Operators will have the opportunity to operate a variety of equipment including vacuum tankers, vacuum trucks, vans, and tractors. Our operators are expected to be professional and safety-minded individuals who interact with customers and colleagues regularly. We value family and work-life balance, so overnight trips are very rare.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Safety is the top priority: Operate equipment safely, following DOT and company policies/regulations.
  2. Driving: Transport waste to designated locations safely, adhering to scheduled appointments and all DOT regulations.
  3. Compliance: Ensure vehicle placarding meets DOT regulations.
  4. Documentation: Maintain paperwork such as expense reports, time sheets, vehicle inspection reports, manifests, and job sheets.
  5. Logs: Properly complete paper and electronic logs.
  6. Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance: Inspect truck equipment and supplies (tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, water) and perform minor maintenance as needed.
