Job summary

Big White Ski Resort is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic in Kelowna, BC. You will ensure safe repair and maintenance of a variety of vehicles and equipment, reporting to the Vehicle Maintenance Manager and VP Operations.

This full-time, on-site role requires a trades certification or apprenticeship, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in all weather conditions. Flexible availability is essential, including evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Trades certification or Apprenticeship required.
• Experience in ski industry snow cat maintenance is an asset.
• Experience with hydraulic and hydrostatic systems.
• Experience with vehicle electrical systems.
• Experience with suspension, tires, braking systems and drive lines.
• Experience with engine, transmission, drivelines and axles.
• Welding and cutting proficiency.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and stay organized.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair road vehicles and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Design and fabricate assemblies where possible.
• Maintain and clean the maintenance shop weekly or as needed.
• Perform and assist in maintenance of ski lifts.
• Maintain various stationary machines.
• Repair tools when required and possible.
• Communicate effectively with all departments regarding maintenance.
• Work cooperatively as part of the maintenance team and follow safe work practices at all times.

Position: Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic

Reports to: Vehicle Maintenance Manager, VP Operations

Employment: Full Time Year Round

Job Description: Vehicle Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for the safe repair and maintenance of various vehicles and equipment.

Position Requirements/Skills:

• Trades certification or Apprenticeship
• Previous ski industry snow cat maintenance experience is an asset

Wage Range: $25.00 - $39.00/hr Depending on the year of apprenticeship

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to sit, stand, walk and lie down for periods for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to lift and carry 25kg (55lbs) at times.
• Must be able to kneel, bend, twist, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill duties.
• Must be able to perform a loaded twist (torqueing a wrench)
• Requires grasping, tool use, writing, standing, sitting, driving, shoveling, repetitive motions, climbing, visual acuity, listening and hearing ability.
