WSP is currently seeking a Vegetation and Wetlands Ecologist to join our Vegetation and Wetlands Group in Edmonton or Saskatoon. Reporting to the Group Manager, you’ll contribute to impactful projects across the prairies and beyond, working with a dedicated team on meaningful work.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Plan, oversee, and conduct vegetation surveys and data analysis
  • Perform field assessments, prepare detailed reports, and support junior staff
  • Travel across Canada for fieldwork, especially during summer
  • Implement safety programs and standards
  • Identify environmental constraints like wetlands and species
  • Collaborate with clients, teams, and agencies
  • Mentor staff on fieldwork, data quality, and reporting
  • Analyze ecological data and provide insights
  • Write and review technical reports
  • Contribute to project proposals and budgets

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in relevant fields, with wetlands focus
  • 2-5 years plant identification experience in prairie, wetland, boreal ecosystems
  • 2-5 years consulting experience as an Ecologist or related
  • Basic GIS skills and spatial analysis familiarity
  • Experience in wetland mapping/classification
  • Proficiency in imagery interpretation for wetlands and vegetation
  • Understanding of environmental regulations, including Alberta Wetland Policy
  • Experience in multidisciplinary projects
  • Eligibility for professional registration (e.g., P.Biol., P.Ag., R.T.Biol.)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Desire to thrive in a dynamic organization
